Calif. for training camp over the weekend,Dallas Cowboys players and coaches arrived in Oxnard,Authentic Dak Prescott Jersey, with several players facing off-field issues.
Including one of their biggest names: among several other offseason headlines for running back Ezekiel Elliott, the second-year player has been waiting for months for the NFL to make its decision on whether he will be punished in conjunction with a 2015 allegation of domestic violence levied by an ex-girlfriend.
even though prosecutors in Columbus,Womens Jason Witten Jersey,There was an ESPN report on July 14 that there was “a growing sense” Elliott would face a short suspension for the incident, Ohio (Elliott attended Ohio State University in the city) did not bring charges.
Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones threw down a gauntlet of sorts to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell,Authentic Zack Martin Jersey,But on Sunday,Womens Travis Frederick Jersey, telling reporters that there’s not a shred of evidence Elliott did anything wrong.
and there is absolutely nothing – not one thing – that had anything to do with domestic violence,” Jones said. “My opinion is there’s not even as issue over he said,“I have reviewed everything, she said. There’s not even an issue there.”
Elliott has maintained his innocence in this matter since he was accused, and Jones has backed his player throughout.
while others may not like Jones challenging them,Whether Jones’ statement helps or hurts Elliott’s case with Goodell and NFL brass remains to be seen; some at league headquarters could want to keep one of the NFL’s most prominent owners happy, no matter how high-profile his team is.
whatever happened,It was just a week ago that Elliott was involved in some sort of dust-up at a Dallas nightclub that allegedly left a man with a nose injury. However,Womens Dak Prescott Jersey, Elliott won’t face any legal trouble – Dallas police suspended their investigation when neither the victim nor witnesses would cooperate.
Jerry Jones says Cowboys have 'high bar' for character,Authentic Jason Witten Jersey,Authentic Tyron Smith Jersey, backs Ezekiel Elliott
Do the Dallas Cowboys have an Ezekiel Elliott problem? Or is it a locker room,Womens Tyron Smith Jersey,Womens Zack Martin Jersey, that is helping to create a bad environment for Elliott,Authentic Travis Frederick Jersey, void of veteran leadership, as Jerome Bettis recently suggested? If you ask Jerry Jones, it's neither.
Calif.,Speaking at the opening press conference for training camp on Saturday in Oxnard, Jones said that the Cowboys have a "high bar" for the people who they will allow on their roster. Jason Garrett added the team has been built on "character" guys.
Both Jones and Garrett are apparently ignoring the number of suspended pass rushers they have employed in the past several years. Greg Hardy and Randy Gregory would like a word.
Most of these inquiries are related to Elliott, who has been under investigation by the NFL for over a year now over a domestic violence allegation. The consensus in NFL circles seems to be that Elliott is going to face a suspension at some point early in the 2017 season. The league's probe is reportedly coming to an end soon..
Elliott's camp has strongly defended the running back for a year now.
however. There are reportedly owners petitioning Roger Goodell to punish the Cowboys for Elliott's off-field issues,It's possible that the actual circumstances of the incident may not ultimately matter when it comes down to punishing Elliott, which have mounted this offseason. Elliott was caught on camera pulling a women's top down at a parade in March and was reportedly involved in an altercation at a Dallas bar earlier in July. He's also appealing a speeding ticket for reportedly going 100 mph in a 70-mph zone in April.
But if he is as in the clear as Jones suggested, it would indicate the Cowboys second-year running back might very well end up not being suspended at all. That would be a surprising given the last several weeks of rumors and speculation. |
