the Miami Dolphins starting running back job appeared to be Arian Foster’s to lose. Not only did Foster lose the starting role,Heading into the 2016 season, he ultimately retired because of the emergence of Jay Ajayi.
After not playing in the Dolphins season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Ajayi finished fourth in the NFL in rushing as he ran for 1, Ajayi became the Dolphins leading rusher after starting in only 12 games. Last season,272 yards and eight touchdowns.
In three games in 2016, including back-to-back weeks against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6 and the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. Because of his superb season, Ajayi ran for over 200 yards, Ajayi was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team in just his second year in the league.
Ajayi spoke about how he has worked on different aspects of his game,During offseason workouts this spring, including his route running and catching the ball out of the backfield.
but I still believe I have that skillset. It was really about developing it even more now at this level and trying to push myself to become elite. That’s really what I’ve been working on,” Ajayi said. “I prided myself in being able to do everything and be on the field for the whole game. Getting into the NFL, I know it’s a lot different,“During college, I was a guy who was able to catch the ball out of the backfield and also run, knowing that I have the skillset and really putting the hammer to the nail and working tirelessly at it (so) I can go out there Sundays and really become that weapon that I want to be.”
As Ajayi will enter the 2017 season as the team’s starting running back, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said during the spring that the running back could carry the ball close to 350 times this year. Ajayi said he welcomes the challenge of carrying the ball 22-25 times a game.
and I’m ready for that, could be different; but I know for myself personally,” Ajayi said. “That’s what I’m preparing myself to do. We’ll see what happens this year as the season comes up. Each game plan each week, then I’ll be completely for it,Womens Alshon Jeffery Jersey,“If that’s the case,Authentic Donnel Pumphrey Jersey, like you said, I’ll be ready to carry the ball however many times I have to.”
Breaking down the Dolphins' contract negotations with Jarvis Landry
$167 million and the right coaching staff to make it all gel. There are plenty of ways to build a roster,Womens Rasul Douglas Jersey,Building an NFL roster isn’t easy: 53 roster spots, but there are only a few ways to build a successful one.
the Miami Dolphins have made it clear they want to reward their own. Miami signed four players to long-term contracts,Headed into their second season under head coach Adam Gase, with most of the money being guaranteed.
The issue is the Dolphins still have one player looking for that long-term contract. So the million dollar question is, why haven’t the Dolphins locked up wide receiver Jarvis Landry?
he won’t talk about contract negotiations once the regular season starts.,About a month ago, Damarius Bilbo, Landry’s agent, talked to the Miami Herald about Landry and his long-term goals. Landry said earlier this month
One issue Miami had this offseason is that it may have overspent on defensive end Andre Branch and wide receiver Kenny Stills. The Dolphins could’ve saved a bit of money if they locked up Stills last summer, before his nine touchdown 2016 season.
Based on what we have seen, the Dolphins don’t mind paying to keep their own players.
They currently have around $17 million in cap space and could use a large portion of it to front-load Landry’s contract. That would help them balance three receivers on the roster with second contracts (assuming DeVante Parker continues his growth on the field and develops into the player the Dolphins drafted in the first round of the 2015 draft). It would also keep an important part of the offense happy and under contract for the foreseeable future.
many teams value this type of player,Landry offers a unique skill set that is prone to highlight-type plays. He can run over any corner on a field and break the ankles of any linebacker that tries to bring him to the ground. Of course, but the Dolphins haven’t signed Landry to a new contract.
but the team hopes he can find some consistency in his third season with the Dolphins. Miami may fear it cannot able to keep Parker,Parker offers the team a true No. 1, Stills and Landry all under contract.
With limited resources and Stills’ contract, the Dolphins may think it is for the best to keep Parker and Stills and let Landry walk.
while Landry is more of a volume receiver.,Though this would anger fans, but Gase may not need that type of player. While in both Denver and Chicago, it isn’t the worst decision in the world. Landry is the heartbeat of the offense, Gase’s offenses were focused on spreading the ball around
when looking at the numbers, but he wants to be paid,Landry loves Miami,Authentic Alshon Jeffery Jersey,Womens Sidney Jones Jersey, is comparable to Brian Hartline when he was in Miami. Hartline’s best season ended with 1, and who can blame him? The issue is that his best season,Authentic Sidney Jones Jersey,Womens Donnel Pumphrey Jersey,Authentic Rasul Douglas Jersey,Authentic LeGarrette Blount Jersey, while Landry’s best season resulted in 1,083 yards and four touchdowns on 74 receptions,Authentic Mack Hollins Jersey,136 yards and four touchdowns on 94 receptions.
Of course, but the bottom line is that their numbers are similar. Gase and the Dolphins organization may believe they can get the same numbers from a cheaper player, the way they play is completely different, even if that person isn’t as flashy or exciting.
The clock is ticking on a long-term deal between the Dolphins and Landry. If the season rolls around and there hasn’t been a conversation about a contract, 2017 will likely be Landry’s last year in Miami. |
