One of the most confusing parts about the Marcus Peters trade was the low compensation Kansas City received from the Rams in return.
Kansas City only got a 2018 fourth-rounder and 2019 second-rounder — having to throw in a 2018 sixth-rounder of their own to finalize the deal — which is frankly not adequate compensation for a player of Peters’ caliber.
and 1) only three teams were interested and 2) the Rams’ offer was the best one Kansas City received.,Authentic Cody Parkey Jersey,What’s even more baffling is that the Chiefs called all 31 other NFL teams to trade Peters
According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard (former Chiefs director of player personnel/football operations who recruited Peters) was barely even interested., many teams low-balled the Chiefs when they inquired about trading for Peters
laughable for a player of Peters’ age and stature. Two were in it until the end—the Rams and 49ers. And the Rams’ offer of second- and fourth-round picks was evidently better than San Francisco’s.,Womens Matt Haack Jersey,One team made an offer of a mid-round pick
The fact that a GM who knew Peters very well—Indianapolis’ Chris Ballard—did not pursue Peters hard for the Colts this month was viewed as telling by several other teams in the league.
The lack of interest in Peters around the league is puzzling. Sure, he had some issues last season, in the eyes of most NFL teams.,Authentic Earl Thomas III Jersey, but did those issues outweigh the fact that he is on pace to have a Hall of Fame career? Apparently the answer is yes
but they turned about to be true. Kansas City agreed in principal to trade the all-pro cornerback to the Los Angeles Rams. The compensation for Peters has yet to be announced.,The recent Peters trade rumors seemed illogical
This is the second trade by the Chiefs this offseason. The first was quarterback Alex Smith being sent to the Washington Redskins for cornerback Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round pick.
it’s clear that K.C. is more aggressive under the leadership of general manager Brett Veach.,Regardless of whether the trades were justified
but they seem to be a team on the rise and it’s reasonable to project their pick will be late in the round. A late second a year down the road and a late fourth this season — while getting back a sixth — is a good price for Los Angeles. The trade can’t become official until the start of the league year on March 14.,That’s not too much for a cornerback who was an All-Pro in 2016. It’s hard to project how good the Rams will be in 2018
The Rams have to be thrilled with the deal. It’s possible Peters wears out his welcome in Los Angeles too. But it’s not like the Rams gambled too much to find out.
Former Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters appeared on NFL Network on Monday and spoke for the first time since news of his trade to the Los Angeles Rams broke last Friday.
“I’ll miss coach (Andy) Reid, and it’s been a crazy little week,” Peters said. “Man, Big Red. It’s funny, you know? And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at everything like ‘Man,Womens Eric Fisher Jersey, man. Because I’m sitting here, you’re talking about me and Big Red having issues?’ ”
That statement seemed to surprise former NFL fullback Michael Robinson, who was interviewing Peters on set. It caused Robinson to ask one more time if Peters,Womens Cairo Santos Jersey, had any issues with Reid., who was suspended by Reid for a game last December due to his behavior during and after the Chiefs’ 38-31 loss to the Jets on Dec. 3
“Nope,” Peters said. “Big Red can come check me like my pops can come check me and I’ll take it as ‘Thank you Big Red, to become a better player.”,Authentic Jay Cutler Jersey,’ because you know? He was looking in the best interest for me
For the first two years of Peters’ Chiefs tenure, Reid indeed appeared to have a deft touch with Peters. When Peters would grow angry on the field, a move that often worked.,Womens Cody Parkey Jersey, Reid could often be seen calming him down briefly on the sideline
the Chiefs did finish with the league’s 28th-ranked defense,But throughout the course of the 2017 season, Peters’ on-field body language grew poorer until the suspension, so he may have had a point., likely due to frustration with the defensive scheme. And yes
But on Monday, who gambled on him with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft despite being suspended midway through his final season at the University of Washington due to repeated clashes with the coaching staff., Peters had nothing but love for the Chiefs
“We’re gonna win games, all you can do is just keep making plays. Give the ball back to Todd so he can do his thing,” Peters said. “When you’ve got a running back like I do, give the ball back to Jared so he could do his thing. You’ve got Woods, when you’ve got a front seven like I do now, Kupp.”
Peters smiled wide.,Authentic Dustin Colquitt Jersey,When Robinson laughed as he noted that Peters knew all about his new squad
” Peters said. “My Madden team is looking real nice right now.”,“I play Madden baby
however. When asked whether he agreed with the trade of former starter Alex Smith to Washington — which will be consummated at the start of the new league year on March 14 — Peters said he didn’t.,Authentic Cairo Santos Jersey,That necessarily wasn’t a swipe at his former Chiefs teammates
“No man,Womens Dustin Colquitt Jersey,” Peters said. “Alex doesn’t get enough respect. They better start putting some respect on that man’s name, and he took it as a man and he never complained about it. He doesn’t turn over the ball and he knows how to win.”,Womens Jay Cutler Jersey, because I done seen that man get thrown underneath the bus too many times
What’s more,Authentic Matt Haack Jersey, Peters said the defense, deserves the blame for that., which blew an 18-point halftime time in a Wild Card loss to the Titans in January
