A roundup of quarterback moves and chatter from the NFL scouting combine:
on Tyrod Taylor: “When you look at our quarterback position, those are two good quarterbacks. Tyrod now can add to his resume that he was instrumental in getting us to the playoffs and breaking what was a 17-year drought. You’ve heard me say it before,Womens Brandon McManus Jersey, Tyrod and Nate,Sean McDermott, Bills head coach, his work ethic and intangibles are unmatched, and his leadership that goes along with the position. We’re still going through that process. We’re in a good position with some options out there. So that will work itself out.
whether it’s Tyrod or any of our players, Tyrod’s a good player. At this point in the process I’ve learned being around this league around 20 years that it’s way too early to take anything off the table. Other than cutting him at this point, which is not in our plans. He’s a good football player who has been instrumental in getting us to the playoffs. At this point in the process, you look at what’s out there,“As I’ve said before, you look at your options and you make decisions based on the best interests of your football team.”
on Aaron Rodgers’ contract: “I don’t know if there’s pressure, it’s not going to be inexpensive, I think we certainly would like to get it done sooner rather than later — not necessarily for those reasons. But when you have the best player in the National Football League,Brian Gutekunst, Packers’ GM, you know what I mean? Obviously Aaron is a high priority,Authentic Max Garcia Jersey, he’s a great player and I think that should take care of itself at some point.
teams should get on the horn for a cheap, and though they won't net more than a late-round draft pick in return,The Denver Broncos reportedly have made Siemian available for trade, two-year starter.
This is the early front-runner due to their need at the position and presence of Greg Knapp,Authentic Todd Davis Jersey, the Broncos' former QBs coach who took the same job in Atlanta.
The Falcons have only 36-year-old Matt Schaub behind franchise QB Matt Ryan. Schaub is due $2.75 million in base salary next season, with a salary cap hit of $5.5M. The team would clear $3.25M.
throwing for 3,Womens Bennie Fowler Jersey, the Jets recently hired former Broncos offensive coordinator Rick Dennison as their offensive line coach and running game coordinator. Siemian had unforeseen success under Dennison in 2016,Speaking of coaching connections,400 yards and earning a berth as a Pro Bowl alternate.
however,Authentic Bennie Fowler Jersey,Gang Green is expected to pursue Kirk Cousins in free agency while allowing 2017 starter Josh McCown to shop his wares. If they strike out on Cousins, they could do worse than bringing aboard Siemian for veteran insurance and drafting a signal-caller with their sixth overall pick.
The Cards are entering a quasi-rebuild with Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer riding off into the sunset. The team is now led by first-time head man Steve Wilks, a defensive mind who will defer offensive responsibility to new coordinator Mike McCoy. Sound familiar?
Arizona may opt to bring in a vet and groom a rookie under center. They've been loosely connected to impending Broncos free-agent Brock Osweiler,Like the Jets,Authentic Darian Stewart Jersey, whom McCoy has coached on two separate occasions.
it's time to throw their likely first-round QB into the fire. Siemian isn't the future of any franchise, if he stays put in the Big Apple, has another year of starting ability in him. After that,Eli Manning, but he's surely an upgrade on the likes of Davis Webb and Geno Smith.
amid a massive regime change,Perhaps the Giants, would be interested in the rare player-for-player trade in lieu of draft capital.
who'd slide right in as Dalton's direct backup. The team will lose AJ McCarron to free agency, the Bengals may come-a-callin' for Siemian,With only Jeff Driskel under contract behind Andy Dalton, leaving a gaping void on the depth chart.
” Patricia said. “I have obviously a lot of love for New England, as far as the Patriots are concerned — and this is really how I feel about it — I’m going to be extremely respectful to Coach Belichick and his organization and I’m going to let him answer any questions that have to do with the Patriots,“To be honest with you, but I have a new team.”
and New England is likely to allow him to leave as a free agent. The New York Jets, the hero of the Patriots’ Super Bowl XLIX victory three years ago, did not play a defensive snap in this year’s loss to the Eagles, according to early buzz out of the combine,Butler, are interested in Butler. Patricia had nothing negative to say about the defensive back.
” Patricia said. “I love Malcolm a lot. Like all my players,“I would characterize my relationship with Malcolm as extremely strong, he’s like one of my sons. I want to make sure that he does everything to the best and I hope the best for him. That’s really all I’m going to say about Malcolm.”
Siemian would be a preferred option for notoriously frugal Bengals owner Mike Brown.
if you will. It's extremely uncommon for division rivals to do business together,This is an honorable mention for Siemian -- a darkhorse, and the last thing the Broncos want is for Siemian to thrive under Jon Gruden.
hasn't cut it. Should the Raiders absolutely blow away John Elway with an offer -- a fourth-rounder, a free agent,But Oakland is seeking a No. 2 to Derek Carr and EJ Manuel, Womens Jamaal Charles Jersey, let's say -- the trigger might be pulled.
The Washington Redskins have all but ruled out the possibility of placing the franchise tag on veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins for a third time, Senior Vice President of Player Personnel Doug Williams told reporters Tuesday afternoon at the NFL Scouting Combine.
” Williams said,“He’s a free agent for sure, adding that he “doesn’t think” the organization will opt to tag Cousins and pay him a guaranteed $34.5 million in 2018.
The Redskins technically have until next Tuesday’s deadline to designate Cousins for the tag, thereby keeping the quarterback from hitting free agency in a few weeks.
The Indianapolis Colts have informed running back Frank Gore that they don’t intend to re-sign him, Coach Frank Reich and General Manager Chris Ballard said. Ballard delivered that news to Gore after the season.
” Reich said Wednesday. “And out of respect to Frank so he could know exactly what was going on,Womens Todd Davis Jersey,“I am aware that Chris and Frank did have a discussion once the season was over, Chris was right up front and said that probably we’re moving on to make the roster a little bit younger at that position.”
who turns 35 in May,Gore, Womens Max Garcia Jersey,is eligible for free agency after spending the past three seasons with the Colts. He is the fifth-leading rusher in NFL history.
Matt Patricia may be out from under the thumb of New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick,Authentic Riley Dixon Jersey, but that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to become bubbly and talkative.
other than to say he put the “players and game plan out there that we thought would be the best, Womens Riley Dixon Jersey,Patricia was asked about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the Super Bowl benching of cornerback Malcolm Butler, when Patricia was still the Patriots’ defensive coordinator. Belichick has still not cleared up the reasons for the surprise benching, like we always do.” Naturally,Authentic Brandon McManus Jersey,Now the coach of the Detroit Lions, Patricia was asked about the incident by reporters as the NFL combine began.
