Redskins and NFL free agency tracker-I started this a week ago today and it grew to 3,500 words. The problem was there wasn't much to add by the time that free agency actually started at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The legal tampering period or, as I dubbed it to avoid an oxymoron being used, the "permitted tampering-like activities period" was when all of the news happened. By the time actual free agency opened on Wednesday afternoon it pretty much was all over. Thanks to those of you who followed along.
Zach Brown agrees to terms with Redskins, per source-Since Kirk Cousins' departure was a foregone conclusion, Brown was the Redskins' most important free agent. His retention provides continuity in the defense and that will benefit both the team and Brown. His contract (preliminary numbers three years, $24 million) showed that the Redskins are willing to invest some money in the inside linebacker spot for the first time since Joe Gibbs brought in London Fletcher to play middle linebacker in 2007.
So this was one of very few articles on Cousins that we posted even though Cousins posts have been popular, you're welcome. It should be noted that we will write about Cousins in the future but infrequently.,Authentic Wesley Woodyard Jersey, but with the vast majority of traffic coming from out of town. So
Redskins officially announce 5-year deal with WR Richardson-He was the opening act for the Alex Smith press conference, and he handled himself very well. If Richardson is even moderately successful I think he will be a major fan favorite.
The Los Angeles Chargers addressed their ailing kicking game by signing Caleb Sturgis to a two-year contract,Authentic Ryan Succop Jersey, the team announced.
General manager Tom Telesco accepted the blame for the team's struggles at the position during the end-of-season news conference. The Chargers used five kickers in 2017 and connected on an NFL-worst 67 percent of their field-goal attempts.
The Chargers signed Sturgis one day after hosting former Oaklad Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski for a visit.
Sturgis is returning after sustaining a hip flexor injury in the 2017 season opener for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was placed on injured reserve and didn't regain the starting job from rookie Jake Elliott, who was signed off the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad.
The 28-year-old Sturgis converted 53 of 63 field-goal attempts and 65 of 68 extra-point tries during his initial two seasons with the Eagles.
Sturgis has converted 111 of 137 field-goal attempts and 140 of 144 extra-point tries since being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The game against the San Francisco 49ers in which he punctured his lung. Romo remembered the way the team's medical staff reacted,Authentic Avery Williamson Jersey, saying "They were like you can't go back in because we don't know. With a broken rib, what they can do is shoot you up and numb the pain a little bit,Authentic Jurrell Casey Jersey, and the Cowboys took down the eventual NFC runner up on the road. The 27-24 battle needed overtime, which still hurts but it can numb it. But if there's a possibility of a punctured lung you really can't go back in." But Romo did go back in,Authentic Brett Kern Jersey, but it is remembered as the game in which Romo's toughness was established to fans outside of Texas.
He had a similar feeling about a 2013 win over the Redskins, remembering "That one I was proud of because I had a ruptured disk in back and I played through it." The Cowboys won the game and remained in playoff contention, but lost the NFC East to the Philadelphia Eagles a week later. Still Romo had established a history of playing through injuries no other player would,Authentic Derrick Morgan Jersey, and that means something to him.
His last playoff win against the Detroit Lions, in which he knew "on that drive in some ways my legacy was on the line." Romo never gets enough credit for his clutch performance. His lackluster playoff record is often cited as a reason to call him a choker. But Romo stepped up and won this game for the Cowboys.
Those games all follow a similar thread. They are not blowouts or statistical marvels. They were matchups in which the Cowboys were pushed to the brink, Romo proved his doubters wrong. He played through injuries. He led a game-winning drive in the playoffs. He did the sort of things that turn stars into legends., and narratives about Romo's career could have been confirmed. He is soft. He is a choker. He is overrated. But when push came to shove
Romo may not have a championship on his resume, but far too much goes into winning a Super Bowl to blame him for that. The Cowboys only put a championship roster around him a few times. But no matter who he played with or what circumstances he was playing under, more than anything, Romo always gave the Cowboys everything he had. That, is what he should be proud of.
After releasing Michael Crabtree, there's still been quite a bit of interest by the team in free agent wide receivers over the past few days., signing Jordy Nelson and trading Cordarrelle Patterson
First, there was the link to former Washington Redskins wideout Ryan Grant, The Athletic's Vic Tafur reported that the Raiders were hosting former Tennessee Titans veteran, who went to Oakland for a visit but eventually wound up signing with the Indianapolis Colts. Then on Tuesday, Eric Decker.
Now, we can add recently-released Allen Hurns to the list of wide receivers who the Raiders have been connected to in some form or fashion. As Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, the 26-year-old who spent the past four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars told Charlotte-based radio station WFNZ that he's received interest for up to 10 teams,Womens Wesley Woodyard Jersey, one of which was the Raiders.
Gehlken also pointed out that Hurns named a few other teams who have shown interest by name,Womens Ryan Succop Jersey, a list that included the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills,Womens Avery Williamson Jersey, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans.
While the former undrafted free agent from the Miami Hurricanes could be a nice fit for any team listed above,Womens Jurrell Casey Jersey,Hurns was originally going to visit the Jets first, but bad weather has resulted in him going to Dallas to meet with the Cowboys first. To this point,Womens Brett Kern Jersey, but if he can make it through Dallas and New York meetings without a deal, there's been no talk of a meeting between the Raiders and Hurns just yet,Womens Derrick Morgan Jersey, Gruden and company may be waiting on the other side.
Over his four-year NFL career, Hurns has totaled 189 receptions for 2,669 yards and 21 touchdowns in 52 games. By far his best season came in 2015 when he caught 64 passes for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns over the span of 15 games.
It's been a big overhaul for the Jaguars receiving corps this offseason, resulting in him eventually signing with the Chicago Bears., as they also let Allen Robinson leave town in free agency
We'll keep you updated on any new information that comes on the status of Hurns and his free agent meetings, but it's unlikely that a young receiver with tremendous upside stays on the market for very long.
