For two days this week, the Miami Dolphins will practice against the Philadelphia Eagles before their Week 3 preseason game on Thursday night against each other.

Byron Maxwell played one season for the Eagles in 2015 before he was traded to the Dolphins the next year. After practice on Monday, the cornerback says the trade to the Dolphins still rubs him the wrong way.

“Well, yes. I would be lying if I told you I don’t want to do better than the Eagles do,” Maxwell said. “I want to win more games than them. I want to prove them wrong…You could call it petty. I don’t know what it is. That’s what I do. That’s how I feel. I mean, but I still want to do better than my old team. I don’t think any player wants to … when the team gets rid of you and then they do better, that’s just realistic. I know what it is,Authentic Donnel Pumphrey Jersey, to be honest with you.”

Maxwell struggled in his only season in Philadelphia after signing a six-year, $63 million contract. During the 2016 offseason,Authentic Mack Hollins Jersey, Maxwell, along with linebacker Kiko Alonso was traded to Miami for the Dolphins number eight pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Philadelphia then to move that pick to trade up for the opportunity to draft quarterback Carson Wentz with the number two overall pick.

It appears the trade has worked out for both teams. The Eagles seem to have their franchise quarterback in Wentz and last year, Maxwell and Alonso helped the Dolphins reached the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

Jay Cutler,Authentic Jordan Hicks Jersey, Dolphins offense catching up to speed in joint practice with Eagles

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler appears to be on course in his comeback.

In a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, which otherwise marked a solid step forward for the veteran quarterback.,Womens Isaac Seumalo Jersey, Cutler fired pinpoint passes and appeared comfortable as he progresses toward his regular-season debut. He threw one interception to recently acquired Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby right before the conclusion of the session

Cutler completed well more than 50% of his passes, most of which were short-to-intermediate throws,Womens Wendell Smallwood Jersey, and fed his targets in stride. Not bad for a player who signed with the Dolphins on Aug. 6, ending his brief retirement.

“I’m really comfortable with these guys, just knowing how we’re going to kind of react in game-type situations.”,” Cutler said. “Situations like this (joint practice) are really good for me and for the receivers and O-line

Cutler was set to become an NFL analyst for FOX but decided to return for a 12th NFL season after the Dolphins began seeking a replacement for Ryan Tannehill, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and opted for season-ending surgery.

Miami and Philadelphia will have another joint practice Tuesday before their matchup Thursday night in Week 3 of the preseason.

Although Cutler has been working with the Dolphins for two weeks, completing three of six passes for 24 yards., Monday’s session was just his second showdown against a defense other than his own. He made his preseason debut Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens but played for just two series

“Everything is good now,” Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry said. “Just for the simple fact that he has played in the system before, so he knows all the checks. He knows where guys are supposed to be. So now, it’s just getting used to our body language when we get in and out of breaks.”

Cutler is still establishing a rapport with Landry, who led the Dolphins with 94 catches and 1,Womens Donnel Pumphrey Jersey, after targeting DeVante Parker on four of his throws Thursday. In Monday’s practice,136 yards last season,Womens Mack Hollins Jersey, Landry caught a pair of touchdowns in Miami’s goal-line drills and added several more during the seven-on-seven portion.

There is still,Womens Jordan Hicks Jersey, however, a great deal of work for Cutler and his receivers to do. This was,Authentic Isaac Seumalo Jersey, a practice in which both teams did not tackle to the ground, after all,Authentic Wendell Smallwood Jersey, and hits on the quarterback were prohibited.

But for a team hoping to reach the postseason in consecutive years for the first time since 2001, Cutler’s first few weeks with the Dolphins are a positive sign.

“I feel fresh,” Cutler said. “Whenever you go through the whole spring throwing, the body gets a little torn. Right now, throwing and throwing, I feel really balanced and fresh. It feels good.”
