Right about now, after the Cowboys kept their faint postseason hopes alive by ultimately running the Giants out of the building with three touchdowns in the game's final 7:38,Womens Ezekiel Elliott Jersey,This is all about next year, the chance to watch Jimmy Garappolo and the 49ers finish off Houston was more rewarding than Eli Manning trying to do the same down 13 points.

The Giants (2-11) aren't tanking. They're playing hard in games, competing about as well as they can - they did so last week in what turned out to be fired-coach Ben McAdoo's last game and again Sunday at the culmination of a trying week for interim coach Steve Spagnuolo.

Co-owner and team president John Mara has scoffed at the notion that his franchise would ever take the field and intentionally attempt to lose games,Authentic Teddy Bridgewater Jersey, calling B.S. on that suggestion even before ownership decided they'd seen enough from McAdoo and fired general manager Jerry Reese.

But here's the thing about these Giants: they don't have to try really hard to lose.

who scored on plays of 50, and did so again against the Cowboys (7-6), 20,It's something that has come far too easily this season,Authentic Harrison Smith Jersey, 81 and 15 yards in sending the Giants to another defeat. This matches Big Blue's worst record after 13 games since 1974.

if the season ended today, the Giants would pick second after the winless Browns - yeah,With three games to go, the Packers rallied and beat Cleveland in overtime.

this is about next year, his sprained left ankle in a protective walking boot. "We competed hard,Womens Linval Joseph Jersey, this is about representing this organization and the name on the back of our jersey," Giants All-Pro safety Landon Collins told me at his locker after the game, we played for each other, and then [in the fourth quarter], but this is where we are. Hopefully we can use this to make sure we're not here again next year.","This is about this year, the game got away from us. [The 2-11 record] hurts, none of us wants to be in this position

The Giants successfully avoided the kind of ugly scene feared by Mara and co-owner Steve Tisch by stepping between the lines and giving just about everything they had against the Cowboys. All-Pro defensive tackle Damon Harrison dislocated a finger on one series, then returned to make a hustling stop of a screen on the next.

and hurt, I take that personally. That's on me for not doing my job. I don't like losing my starting job. That's personal," Manning said. "I don't like losing a head coach, also,"Obviously the last few weeks have been difficult with losing my starting job and losing your head coach. Those things are hard and they are personal, and that's because I haven't played well enough and we're not winning games. I appreciate Spags giving me an opportunity to get the start this week and see if we could get us a win, and I'm sorry we didn't play well enough to get that win."

For all the appreciation of what Manning represents, it was unrealistic for anyone to believe his presence was going to completely flip the script.

which essentially means, win or lose,As for the players - who stays and who goes will undoubtedly remain a debate for the foreseeable future,Authentic Dez Bryant Jersey, every play counts.

and they did not embarrass themselves against the Cowboys on Sunday; and for that, Spagnuolo and the coaches,These Giants showed fight,Authentic Ezekiel Elliott Jersey, and the players deserve some credit. They didn't let a crazy week crush their spirit and will to compete.

Giants teammates have had “sit downs” with Eli Apple to try to straighten him out. The general tone of those meetings, safety Landon Collins said,At multiple points during this season,Authentic Trevor Siemian Jersey, is to tell the second-year cornerback that his teammates have his back and see him like a brother.

” Collins said. “We need him to want to be here and not fighting against us. If he’s fighting against the coaches or the organization or whoever he’s fighting against in his head,“We need him to be here, we don’t need him fighting us. That causes conflict.”

And it creates the situation the Giants now find themselves in.

last year’s first-round pick, has not played in four games. Three of those games were essentially coaches’ decisions to scratch him from the gameday lineup. On Wednesday,Womens Teddy Bridgewater Jersey, the young cornerback who should easily be starting for the team was taking reps with the second unit,Apple, with the scout team, and with the special teams groups.

And interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo said there is no guarantee that Apple will play Sunday against the Eagles.

” Spagnuolo said. “We’ll see where he is at the end of the week. At the end, you’ve got to make a decision on 46 players [to be active on gameday],Authentic Linval Joseph Jersey,“We’re kind of trying to oil him back up, so that’ll all unfold as the week goes on.”

Mara said,When asked at Wednesday’s December meetings if he wants Manning to return next year, Womens Dez Bryant Jersey,“Yes. But that’s a discussion that we’ll have.”

who turns 37 next month, the owner said,Mara acknowledged that uncertainty about the pursuit of a general manager and coach could impact Manning’s future. If the GM told Mara it might be better to move on from Manning, “We’ll have that discussion.”

but I’m not certain at this point they will be the highest- graded players on the board,Womens Trevor Siemian Jersey,“We’re in a unique position to take a quarterback if we want,” Mara said. “That will be a discussion with the new general manager and new head coach. I’ve

” he said. “Listen, I don’t want to comment on any specific candidate,He did not want to get into a specific evaluation of Gettleman. “I’d rather not get into all that,Womens Harrison Smith Jersey, because I don’t want to make that the story.”
